Governor Gladys Wanga has ordered investigations after a Form Four candidate died after delivery.

Velma Anita Ochieng', a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate at Nyajanja Mixed Secondary School in Rangwe sub-county, died at Homa Bay County Referral Hospital on Monday.

The learner's family has blamed her death on medical negligence.

Velma's aunt Sela Ayaga claimed medical officials mishandled her.

"I was with Velma when she started experiencing labour pains. I was staying with her, being her guardian. The doctors at the hospital did not handle her as expected," Ayaga said.

Ms Wanga, who addressed journalists on Thursday, ordered the board of Homa Bay County Referral Hospital to carry out an inquiry into the death.
