Former Vice President, the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga's eldest son Oburu Oginga was on Sunday confirmed by an Anglican bishop during a ceremony to mark his 80th birthday. Dr Oburu, who is the second senator of Siaya County received the confirmation at a ceremony presided by Bondo Diocese Bishop Prof David Kodia. There was joy and jubilation as the 80-year-old father of eight tasted the sacrament for the first time in his life - a fulfillment of his fathers wish 75 years later.
The colourful event held at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology grounds was also attended by the Azimio leaders Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Wycliffe Oparanya, governors James Orengo, Gladys Wanga, Anyang' Nyong'o, Ochilo Ayacko, MPs and several MCAs. In 2021 during a Christmas church service at Nyamira ACK in Bondo, Bishop Kodia said he was ready to confirm Oburu and Raila.
