Road projects to be completed on time, says Transport CS James Macharia

Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary James Macharia reassured Kenyans that all road and infrastructure projects in the country will be completed on time.

He said the road projetc are under supervision to ensure contractors are working within the period provided for in the contract.

Speaking during inspection of Kora-Kagumo-Kanjama road in Mathioya, Murang’a County, the CS said already the government has completed tarmacking 10,500 kilometres of roads across the country, against the target of 11,500 kilometres made by President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013.

Macharia was accompanied by MPs Peter Kimari Mathioya), Nduati Ngugi (Gatanga), Mary Wamaua (Maragua), Gichuhi Mwangi (Tetu), Antony Kiai (Mukurwe-ini) and Gichuki Mugambi (Othaya).

He appreciated the National Assembly for allocating resources to his ministry for the purpose of implementing multi-billion-shilling projects.

The MPs lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta's government for having implemented development projects countrywide without any form of discrimination.

“In a span of 10 years, Kenyans have witnessed a lot of development taking place in their home grounds and we should continue listening to the words of advice from the president as the residents from Mt Kenya,” said Kiai.
