Disappeared: One month on, family waits for kin’s return

For more than one month, former KBC sports anchor Fred Nyongesa and his family have been agonisingly waiting and searching for their kin Jimmy Nyongesa Ongalo (pictured), who disappeared while visiting a relative in Kinangop.

According to the family, Jimmy, in his early 30s, was out for a walk on December 10, last year, while visiting his aunt, but has never been seen or heard from again.

The family has been struggling to make sense of the disappearance, since Jimmy was alright and in good terms with those close to him.

“He is an average man who doesn’t talk much, and is jovial all the time. The unfortunate thing is that he did not have a phone when he went missing,” said Nyongesa, Jimmy’s father.

An extensive search since he disappeared has not yielded any leads. The family reported Jimmy’s disappearance at Kwaharaka police station in Kinangop and others around the country.

He was last seen on December 10, near the Kinangop flyover, in a black T-shirt, grey sweater, a pair of jeans and brown shoes.

The family, hopeful that he is still alive, is appealing to anyone with information on his whereabouts to report to police or contact them.
