Nairobi, Kenya: Property of unknown value was on Tuesday afternoon destroyed in a fire incident at the Administration Police Training College, Embakasi in Nairobi.

The fire burnt down a section of a store that has been next to the college’s kitchen and mess. Officials said mattresses, beds and other valuables that were in the store were destroyed.

College commandant Mr Shurie Omar said no one was injured in the 1pm incident.

“This has been serving as a reserve for our college but the fire broke out this afternoon destroying some of the valuables that included mattresses and beds,” he said.

Omar said there were no uniforms in the affected store.

He added they are yet to know the cause of the fire but experts had been called to investigate the incident. The incident happened as most of the recruits were out in classes and field for practicals.

It was contained by fire engines and the recruits who joined in the battle.

The recruits are set to graduate on April 17.
