The players drawn from Nakuru, Njoro, Naivasha, Kericho and Nyahururu golf clubs are set to battle it out for the top honours on a course that has some of the best greens in the region.
Two players, Nakuru Golf Club captain Luther Kamau and club member John Kamais, are expected to play from the scratch.
Golfers at the club and those from the invited clubs have been training for the past two weeks for the tournament and are all ready for the big duel.
Luther Kamau confirmed the greens are in the best shape and golfers are willing to give their best in the competition.
“We expect a big entry from the five invited clubs’ members. Since players know it as the first serious tournament after the New Year, everyone will give it a big shot for the top prize,” Kamau told Standard Sports.
Parvesh Somai and Betty Kisui, both Nakuru Golf Club members are some of the favorites the Standard Golf Classics-Nakuru chapter tournament.
“The duo is in best shape and is some of the players we can bet on for the top prize. They’ll give some of the experienced and top players from the neighboring clubs a run for their money,” said Kamau.
The staff prize has attracted ten golfers led by Standard Group Chief Executive Officer Orlando Lyomu.
Handicap 8 Mose Sammy, a staff at Standard Group, who has been out of action for a short stint says he is ready for the competition.
”I’m ready for the big names in the tournament after a short lay-off,” said Mose.
