Kakamega Homeboyz and Kariobangi Sharks moved to the summit of the FKF Premier League after winning their matches played yesterday.

The matches marked the return of top flight football which had been suspended for three weeks after the FKF Normalization Committee took over football affairs.

Sharks narrowly edged out Nairobi City Stars 2-1 in an early kick off match played at Ruaraka Grounds.

The win saw Sharks leapfrog record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia who will not be in league action this weekend owing to their Caf Confederation Cup assignment.

Sharks have 16 points same as Homeboyz who saw off hosts Nzoia Sugar 1-0 in Bungoma.

Sharks captain Geoffrey Shiveka gave them the lead in the 22nd minute from the penalty spot after Lennox Ogutu had fouled Erick Mmata.

The visitors took the 1-0 advantage into the break, but that would change 10 minutes after the restart when Ezekiel Odera restored parity from close range.

Second half substitute Patrick Otieno would then seal all the three points after sneaking around the City Stars defenders to score past Jacob Osano in goal for Stars.

The defeat left Nairobi City Stars in fourth place with 13 points.

At Sudi Stadium, Stephen Opoku’s goal in the 65th minute was enough to hand Homeboyz all three points.

Victory also saw the Kakamega-side stretch its unbeaten run to six matches as Nzoia Sugar continue lingering in the relegation zone with two points, a point above bottom placed Vihiga Bullets.

At Thika Stadium, 10-man Bidco United defeated AFC Leopards 1-0 as Ingwe’s losing streak stretched to five games.

Meanwhile, Wazito ended their four-match winless streak with a narrow 1-0 victory over Ulinzi Stars as Sofapaka saw off newbies Kenya Police 2-0.

The last match of the day saw Talanta beat Mathare United 2-0 to move to seventh in the log.

Last season’s runners up KCB take on Vihiga Bullets today at Utalii grounds from 3pm.
