AC Leopards huge contingent expected on Friday

Gor Mahia’s opponents in the first round CAF Champions League AC Leopards de Dolisie are expected in the country on Friday 13th March. What will raise eyebrows is the size of the contingent that has been estimated at just under a hundred people.

“Our guests have communicated to us their intention of coming with 96 people via a chartered plane on Friday,” said Gor Mahia Organizing Secretary David Kilo. “Given it’s a chartered plane, its landing time will have to be confirmed by Kenya Airports Authority but all we know is that they’ll be here on Friday.”

The colossal size of the Congolese contingent, at 96 people, will be of great interest to the Kenyan public that has lately kept a keen eye on number of players and officials of local clubs that go for foreign trips. On its trip to Madagascar last month, Gor Mahia took 28 individuals; still seen by some hawk-eyed observers as bloated.

The 2012 CAF Confederations Cup winners have not categorically stated the composition of their contingent and have kept their hosts in the dark regarding their accommodation and movement around the city. More interesting is that the Congolese embassy in Nairobi until Tuesday had no idea the match was on let alone their team coming to Kenya.
