Four more senior cops moved in mini-reshuffle

Four more senior police officers were Monday moved in a mini-changes announced by Deputy Inspector General of police Edward Mbugua.

Kilifi County police boss James Mugera was named the Nairobi region deputy police commander.

Mugera swapped positions with Nairobi deputy police boss Stephen Matu.

Taita Taveta county police commander Saidi Kiprotich was moved to Nairobi and named the head of operations.

Kiprotich replaced Francis Sang who was moved to Taita Taveta and named the county commander.

Kiprotich is a former commander of defunct Flying Squad and was moved to Coast three years ago.

Mugera is a long-serving police commander having served in Kiambu, Kericho and Kilifi.

This came as new Nairobi police boss Rashid Yakub who has been in Mombasa in the same capacity reported to office on Monday.

He handed over to outgoing boss Philip Ndolo who was moved to Kiganjo police training college as the deputy commandant to replace Gabriel Musau who was named the new Coast regional police boss.

Musau once worked in Mombasa as the head of operations and many feel his transfer will be a boost.

He worked as a personal assistant to at least three commissioners of police for long.

Ndolo is a long-serving police commander who served in North Eastern and was once the director of police operations.

Yakub worked as western regional police commander since 2019 before he was moved to the coast in the same capacity.

Police headquarters said the changes were normal and aimed at boosting police operations.
