City residents are now accusing the officers of confiscating identification documents and demanding bribes from the owners before they get them back.

On Monday, a young man who was seeking direction to Huduma Centre was allegedly 'arrested' by the officers after he presented a police abstract showing lose of his identity card.

A group of parking attendants, who operate opposite Laico Hotel, claimed the officers demanded a Sh500 bribe from him.

"We had to make noise to have him freed," said one of the attendants.

Yesterday, two of the officers were almost roughed up by angry city residents who said they had grown weary of being harassed. Nairobi OCPD Paul Wanjama said officers found harassing the public will be prosecuted.
