Celebrated American choral group, Singers Taking Action Reaching Souls (Stars) arrived in Kenya Sunday for a series of activities organised by the Africa Federation of Choral Music (AFCM) Kenyan chapter.

AFCM Deputy President Kennedy Indiazi said the group will perform in a number of concerts and events in Nairobi.

"Tomorrow they will curtain-raise at the Premier of the play 'Obama Dreams of a Father' at the Kenya National Theatre," he said.

Mr Indiazi said the group will hold workshops for choral musicians in Kenya and perform in selected churches in the city.

Among the prominent musicians accompanying the team is Fredo Onorobowusuke, who last year hosted the Moipei Quartet in their inaugural USA tour in February.

Last month, the popular US gospel singer and preacher Don Moen toured the country to a great reception in Mombasa and Nairobi.

'Obama Dreams of a Father' will tell the story of the first-ever Black US President Barack Obama, who is scheduled to visit the country later this month, for the first time since becoming president.

The play will continue at the theatre from July 22 to 26 coinciding with Mr Obama's visit, during which he will open the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Nairobi.
