Ethiopian Airlines Group hit another major milestone after British flight auditing company Skytrax feted it with a 4-Star ranking in London on November 8. The airline company received the certification, which the Chief Executive Officer Tewolde GebreMariam attributed to their surge in delivering quality services to their clients over the years.

His statement during the ceremony reads in part: “As a customer focused airline, it is extremely gratifying that our hard work to ensure high level of customer satisfaction at all times through a consistent delivery of global standard product and superior level of service has borne fruit.”

Mr GebreMariam further indicated that the 4-Star certification was one of the objectives that the company is targeting on the 15 year plan, which will see them expand even more in the world of business.

While he acknowledges the fete as a blessing that came on time, the airline boss did not fail to challenge over 12,000 employees that it comes with responsibility and standards that they have to maintain.

According to the statement provided at the Skytrax website, 4-Star certification is achievable for airlines that meet some factors required in customer service. The statement reads in part:

“The 4-Star Airline Rating is a seal of Quality Approval awarded to airlines that deliver a good overall Quality performance. The ranking represents airlines providing good Product standards across different travel cabins, and delivering good standards of Staff Service for the Onboard and home-base Airport environments.” Skytrax further reveals that there are currently 35 airlines rated at 4-star globally.

This is not the first time that the Ethiopian airline is being honoured by Skytrax. The company has won Skytrax World Airline Award on the basis of having the Best Airline Staff in Africa. This came after winning awards for the best airline in Africa twice.

Meanwhile, the company will be launching a 6th gateway flight from Buenos Aires, Argentina to USA and Asia on March 8 2018. While speaking about the planning of the flight, the Group CEO Mr GebreMariam said that the inaugural flight will be ‘All Women Operated Flight’. He added that the gesture will be a show of commitment to achieving gender mainstreaming call in the society.
