Deloitte, Capital Club announce new partnership to support local artists

Deloitte East Africa has partnered with Capital Club East Africa to support local artists and showcase their artwork to potential buyers.

Last week it hosted members of Capital Club to an exclusive cocktail and art exhibition where five local artists showcased their work.

The professional services firm has commissioned over 20 art pieces from local artists to put up in its headquarters at Deloitte Place.

Allan Joseph, Xhuuma Maseeti Towett, Poonam Suryavanshi, Preeyam Sehmi and Vaishali Morjaria exhibited their abstract paintings and wildlife and landscape photography in the mini-exhibition.

The event brought together captains of industry from the financial, manufacturing, hospitality and consumer goods sectors among others. Speaking at the exhibition Deloitte East Africa Chief Executive Officer, Sammy Onyango, said rather than purchase art from abroad the firm wanted to buy pieces that were closer to home, as it believes that it has a role to play in supporting the creation of employment for our youth.

“This mini-exhibition was just a way of showing our appreciation to these artists, and exposing them to potential new buyers from Capital Club,” he said.

Allan Joseph, who has been a professional artist for the last decade, acknowledged the role corporates play in supporting local talent, having sold over seven murals to Deloitte since his initial engagement by the firm in 2010.
