An autopsy on the body of the late marathoner Samuel Wanjiru has revealed he may have died from an injury to the back of the head caused by a blunt object.

Doctors who carried out a post-mortem examination on his body are, however, yet to establish the nature of the blunt object and will visit to his Nyahururu home on June 1 (next Wednesday) to find out whether the injury is consistent with a fall from his house.

Lawyers representing both Wanjiru’s mother and widow, said investigation into the athlete’s death was still going on and the final results would only be made public after the Nyahururu visit.

The doctors led by Government Pathologist Moses Njue also took away samples from the athlete’s liver and kidneys to establish the content of the alcohol in his system at the time of his death.
