The African airspace is poised for greater heights if liberalisation of skies for carriers is realised, according to a continental airlines body.

African Airlines Association (Afraa) Secretary General Abdérahmane Berthe says market access is critical for airline business to succeed.

The association’s membership of 40 airlines represents 85 per cent of total international traffic by African carriers across the continent, he said.

Mr Berthe was in Yaounde, Cameroon, to meet government officials ahead of the 51st Afraa Annual General Assembly and Summit later this year.
