A 22-year-old female student at Kaimosi Teachers College was found murdered in a lodge in Majengo, Vihiga County.

A worker of the hotel discovered the body when she had gone to clean the room Wednesday morning.

It is alleged that she was murdered by her boyfriend, whom she had shared the room with.

The boyfriend was seen leaving the premises very early in the morning by the watchman and when he was asked where he was going he said, "I am going to buy airtime for my mobile phone."

The boyfriend is still at large and his mobile phone is switched off. He also left with the girlfs mobile phone.

The worker tried to wake the student up thinking that she was deep asleep but her pleas were in vain and that is when it dawned on her that she was speaking to a dead person.

Caleb Jumba the proprietor of the hotel said his female employee immediately informed him about the incident, and the police were contacted on the same.

Jumba said the couple are regular customers noting that they always book accommodation at the lodge.

"The two are our frequent customers at this place," reiterated Jumba.

He termed the incident as unfortunate and unacceptable. He also noted that the culprit is well known by the girlfs parents.

A receipt was found in the room written on, "committed suicide" and it is believed the boyfriend wrote it after he had accomplished his mission.

The student had put on six biker shorts and they were found intact.

The body stayed at the scene for long because the crime scene photographer was in Kakamega and Jumba had to hire a vehicle for him to Majengo.

"It took us hours to get the crime photographer and that is why the body was moved at 4pm since morning," noted Jumba.

The body was taken to Mbale District Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

Vihiga OCPD Lawrence Garama said the suspect is still at large but noted that they are following crucial leads that will lead to the arrest of the man.

He appealed to locals to volunteer information on the suspect since he is well known in Majengo.
