Lawyer sues media house for defamation
By Evelyne Kwamboka
Lawyer Cecil Guyana Miller has sued a media house for defamation.
Mr Miller claims the media house carried a story that indicated he beats his wife. He is seeking compensation in terms of libel, aggravated and exemplary damages.
In a case filed at the High Court registry on March 4, Miller says the words also meant he is violent, not fit to hold public office and does not respect his wife. He has filed the case through PW Wena & Company Advocates.
The application is on grounds that the media house did not allegedly care to prove the allegations.
"The plaintiff is in fact happily married, has never been arrested or convicted of the offence of assault against anyone," the law firm says.
