Relatives of Nakumatt fire victims want DNA results released

Families of the victims of the Nakumatt fire have appealed to the Government to release the DNA results. The 23 families said prayers planned for Thursday would be pointless if the DNA results to identify the dead are not released.

The grieving relatives, who visited the Standard Group offices in Nairobi yesterday, said the Government had promised to release the results in two weeks and the deadline expires on Tuesday.

"We have not received any official communication, only phone calls by the Red Cross postponing a meeting which was supposed to be held last Thursday," said Mr John Mutungi, who lost a niece.

Dr Julius Mwabora, who lost his wife, said the Government should communicate when the results would be out, not Red Cross as has been the case.
