Questions raised on Parliament's independence, representation

Questions are increasingly being raised over the independence and credibility of Parliament in what critics say is the Houses' endorsement of unpopular policies and laws that are feeding into people's disenchantment with government.

The civil society has, for instance, claimed that the 13th Parliament has been captured by the Executive, which it claims has compromised its independence and ability to effectively represent the people's interests.
