Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga on Friday evening won his first professional title in Qatar after helping his club Al Duhail win the 2022 Amir Cup.

Olunga, 27, scored as Al Duhail thrashed Al Gharafa 5-1 in the final played at the Khalifa International Stadium.

Edmilson Junior opened the scoring in the fifth minute before Olunga ensured Al Duhail took a comfortable 2-0 lead into the break after netting the second in the 18th minute.

In the final half, Almoez Ali added Al Duhail's third before Ahmed Alaa Eldin pulled one back for the visitors a minute later as the scores stood at 3-1.

Olunga’s team would however have the last laugh as Ferjani Sassi and Abdeirahman Moustafa sealed the win.

This is Olunga’s first title with the Qatari giants, who have now won the title four times.

Al Duhail first won the title in 2016. They went on to win the 2018 and 2019 editions before sealing a fourth this year.

Olunga has already bagged the league, Golden Boot, after scoring 23 goals in the Qatari Stars League.

The former Gor Mahia striker has also won the 2021 Asian Champions League top scorer award.

He has also been nominated for the Qatar Super League MVP award where he will square it out with Akram Afif of Al Sadd and former Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla who equally turns out for Al Sadd.
