Man surrenders to police moments after slaying wife's secret lover

A man killed his wife's secret lover before surrendering to police in a confessed love triangle.

Leonard Juma Keriga is said to have accosted James Magoma Matundura at a hotel in Kijauri town at around 7 pm on Saturday evening where he slashed him with a sharp machete.

Nyamira County Commissioner Amos Mariba confirmed the incident saying the deceased was taking tea at the hotel whose proprietor is the woman at the centre of the murder incident.

After attacking the deceased with a sharp machete, the suspect then fled from angered members of the public who started pursuing him for revenge but he managed to find refuge at Matutu Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit (CIPU).

"Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased was involved in a love affair with the wife of the suspected killer," he said, adding that the weapon has been marked for presentation before court as an exhibit.

It is alleged that the deceased had been warned on several occassions of the illicit affair with the married woman but could hear none of this.

Friends to the deceased said the woman at the centre of the love triangle co-owns the hotel business with the husband.
