COVID-19 cases in the country have jumped to 1,618 after 147 more people
tested positive.
Speaking at Tigoni Hospital in Kiambu, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced
that 70,172 samples have been
tested so far.
Out of the 147, Nairobi
is leading with 90, Mombasa 41, Kiambu 3, Busia 3, Uasin Gishu 2, Nyeri 2,
Murang'a 1 among others.
The cases in Nairobi
are spread as follows, Kibra (35), Langata (15), Makadara (9), Westlands (8), Kamkunji
(2) and Mathare (1).
Three more people also died in the last 24 hours bringing the total number
of deaths to 58 as 13 patients got discharged. Total number of recoveries stand
at 421.
Out of the 147 new cases, 87 were male and 60 were female, while the
youngest being a one-year-old infant and the oldest 87 years.
Acting DG Dr. Patrick Amoth also noted that 54 health workers have tested
positive for COVID-19.
