Police are investigating a senior UNESCO employee who is alleged to have forged her employment documents.
A Kasarani senior detective said they are investigating allegations that Catherine Nyang'au forged her employment documents to get her job at the UNESCO.
He told the Standard that the matter is under investigations and if they will have incriminating evidence against Nyang'au, then she will be prosecuted for the offence.
"Right now I cannot talk much about the case as we are still gathering our evidence against her. When done with the investigations, we will see whether to charge the suspect or not depending on our evidence", he said.
On March 15, she moved to court over UNESCO's illegal disciplinary action against her.
In her petition filed under certificate of urgency at the Employment and Labour Relations Court, Nyanag’au through lawyer Ishmael Nyaribo says that the disciplinary process instigated by employer is ultra vires, or should not be exercised.
The petitioner who is senior employee says that the employer is about to commence an administrative, disciplinary process meant to terminate his work at instigation of both John Joseph Oundo and Dr.Evangeline Njoka who Secretary General and CEO Kenya National Commission for UNESCO (KNATCOM) respectively.
She says in that the employer’s imminent disciplinary process has been instigated solely by Dr Oundo and Njoka, contrary to clear advice from the board. This has made it extremely embarrassing and compromising to him to freely engage in the daily duties at place of work.
Nyang'au says that if she is subjected to unlawful administrative process, she stands to suffer irredeemable violation of his constitutional rights including but not limited to loss of her employment with the respondent.
Trial judge Byram Ongaya ruled the matter as urgent and directed the case to be mention on March 30 for further directions.
