EALA MP Simon Mbugua and Governor Mike Sonko's aide Peter Mugo have been questioned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for allegedly planning to use youths to cause chaos during Sonko’s bail application ruling on Wednesday.

The two are alleged to have been nabbed bribing youths to disrupt court proceedings during the hearing slated for 11am.

Governor Sonko was remanded at Kamiti Maximum Prison after Anti-Corruption Magistrate Douglas Ogoti postponed his bail ruling.

The governor was, however, moved to Kenyatta National Hospital after falling sick at Kamiti.

Sonko was arrested last Friday after being linked to a Sh357 million irregular tender.

Before appearing in court on Monday, Sonko had spent two days in police custody.

The Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution had on Monday opposed Sonko's release on bail.

Sonko, along with several other Nairobi County officials, was arraigned before Magistrate Ogoti to answer to Sh357 million graft charges at City Hall.

He also faces assault charges in Voi in addition to other charges in a Mombasa court from his past activities.

The accused denied the charges and applied to be freed either on bond or cash bail amid strong opposition by the prosecution.

A battery of lawyers led by Leader of Majority in the Senate Kipchumba Murkomen, Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr and Makueni MP Dan Maanzo turned up to defend him.

Other lawyers were Cecil Miller, Nelson Havi, Alphonse Mutinda, George Kithi, Michael Osundwa and Harrison Kinyanjui.
