Opposition leader Raila Odinga has given formal consent to the new ODM leadership at the Nairobi County Assembly.

While making the new changes official yesterday, Raila asked them to ensure equity in committee membership to avoid chaos as recently witnessed at the city assembly.

This comes just two days after ODM made changes to its party representation at the assembly, by appointing Karen Ward MCA David Mberia as the Minority Leader replacing MCA Elias Otieno.

Minority Chief Whip Peter Imwatok and Deputy Minority chief Whip Moses Ogeto, however, retained their positions despite a spirited attempt by ODM MCAs to oust them.

Speaking during the handing over ceremony attended by party MCAs at a Nairobi hotel, Raila, who doubles up as the African Union High Representative for Infrastructure Development, also warned the MCAs against frustrating Devolution.

He further moved to quell the internal fights at the assembly by urging members to conduct themselves with dignity and decorum and avoid violence when resolving issues.
