Judge, wife questioned, handed car after dramatic shooting in the city

Police have handed back a vehicle that was involved in a shooting incident in Kileleshwa to a judge after he said he would not pursue the matter further.

An officer aware of the matter said the High Court judge and his wife recorded statements following the Monday morning incident and declared they would repair the car. The car was towed from Kilimani Police Station on Tuesday.

“They explained the circumstances under which the incident happened and pledged not to pursue any further legal action or seek compensation in regard to the shooting,” said the officer.

The judge escaped unhurt after police reportedly shot at his vehicle ten times and succeeded in deflating the right tyre following a report filed by his wife that he could have been a victim of a carjacking.

The judicial officer, who was driving himself when the incident happened, escaped unhurt.

The judge operates in a station outside Nairobi and was in the city for the weekend where his family resides.
