Three terror suspects killed, two officers injured in IED explosion in Lamu
SEE ALSO :Kenya shuts border with Somalia in LamuDuring the ensuing fierce fire exchange, three of the militants were killed while two of the officers sustained gunshot wounds and were flown out of Lamu for treatment. Military choppers were later seen hovering the area. Officials said they suspect the attackers were many but managed to escape in the exchange of fire. Police authorities said the officers were able to successfully repulse the militants. The area is under the multi-agency security operation Linda Boni.
SEE ALSO :The unseen war - Part 2Police said the slain men were dressed in jungle green military regalia and had around their necks, flags similar to those used by the Al Shabaab terror group. Last month, four Al Shabaab militants were killed when an IED they were setting up detonated prematurely at Kwa Omollo Bridge area in Lamu East.
