Panic has gripped senior county employees in Migori following the arrest of County Secretary Christopher Rusana.

Mr Rusana (pictured), a close ally of Governor Okoth Obado, was seized by officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commissioner (EACC) on Tuesday evening and is due in court today.

He is set to face multiple allegations ranging from corruption to abuse of office amid fears more senior county employees were lined up for similar fate.

EACC's spokesperson Yasin Aila said the official has been on their radar for some time now.

“We are holding him for the normal drill where finger prints will be taken. He will spend day and night inside cells until Thursday when he will be arraigned in court," said Mr Aila.

Yesterday, sources said Mr Rusana had been moved to Kisii awaiting charges.

Some Migori county employees told The Standard they feared EACC sleuths would return for more of their senior colleagues.

"There is a lot of panic. I doubt if some of the senior staff would report to work after Labour Day. Things are bad," said a staff who sought anonymity.

Late last year, investigators  from the EACC and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) raided Mr Obado's homes in Migori and Nairobi as they investigated alleged misappropriation of over Sh2b, said to have been wired to overseas proxy accounts.
