Mother of ten killed by speeding motorist in Naivasha

A speeding motorist hit and killed a mother of 10 in Naivasha.

A one-year-old child was seriously injured in the accident on Naivasha-Kirima road that claimed the life of 42-year-old Rahab Wangari.

The driver of the personal car escaped with minor injuries in the midday accident near Nyonjoro Secondary School, 10km from Naivasha town.

Wangari was carrying the baby on her back while walking along the road when she was hit.

The accident came barely a day after two people, including an AP officer and a female passenger, died in an accident on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

James Kabono from the Naivasha Safety Group said the woman was taken to Naivasha Sub-County Hospital, where she died.

He said the blame lay squarely with the driver who was speeding.

“It’s a big tragedy as the deceased was a mother of 10. The first born is around 18 years and the last is the one-year-old".
