Two killed people, three others critically injured in Narok accident

Two people were killed on the spot and three others injured after their vehicle lost control and hit two other vehicles from the rear at Nairagie-Enkare escarpment along Narok-Maai Mahiu road.

According to Narok East Sub-County police Commander Benjamin Mwanzia, Toyota Prado TX belonging to Ewuason Ng’iro South Development Authority (ENSDA) which had five people on board was heading towards Narok when the incident happened.

“It was round 6:20 pm when the Prado which was coming from Maai Mahiu direction lost control ramming on a lorry and a Toyota Starlet from behind and as a result, two occupants of the Prado died on the spot and three seriously injured, “said Mr Mwanzia.

The duo who died in the incident have however been identified as employees of the Narok-based state corporation ENSDA who were coming from training in Nyandarua.

The corporation’s Managing Director Sammy Naporos confirmed that the deceased were his staff who were on their way back from a workshop in Nyandarua County.

“I am shocked by this incident. The two were my staff working in the Communication and Planning departments. We have lost dedicated and diligent staff. My condolences to their families,” said Mr Naporos at Narok County Hospital.

The police, however, confirmed that the bodies of the two have been ferried to Narok County Hospital mortuary while the injured are recuperating at the same facility.

“We have launched investigations into the actual cause of this accident,” said Mr Mwanzia adding that none was injured in the other two vehicles involved in the accident.

Wreckages of the three vehicles, he said, have been towed to Ntulele police station as investigations into the accident commence.

The incident brings to 12 the number of people killed in different road accidents in Narok County since the beginning of this month.

On April 3, four people died and four others injured after a driver of a private vehicle lost control of it at Ng’oswani area along Narok- Sekenani road.

Four days later on April 7, Four people were killed and six others injured in an accident at Katakala area along the Bomet-Narok road and five days later on April 12, two members of one family-Man and wife perished in a grisly road accident at Silanka area along Narok-Bomet road after their vehicle engage in a head-on collision with a police vehicle.
