The accident happened after the driver of the truck lost control following a tyre burst hitting the saloon car on its rear side. Both vehicles were travelling from Mombasa to Nairobi.
"The truck had a tyre burst before losing control and consequently hitting the private car from behind," said Ogur.
He called on truck drivers to be vigilant and assist in avoiding accidents that can be controlled through driving carefully.
The truck driver wasn't injured but the saloon car driver was rushed to Kibwezi Amref hospital for treatment.
The two bodies were taken to Makindu Hospital Mortuary awaiting identification.
