Policemen stop parents from ejecting Nyakach Girls principal

Police yesterday stopped parents from ejecting the principal of Nyakach Girls High School.

Anti-riot police pitched camp in the school for the better part of yesterday to stop possible mayhem.

County Commander Job Boronjo later said the matter had been amicably settled after a stakeholders’ meeting.

By midday the parents had dispersed, warning that the protest would go on.

They claimed that the principal, who reported in May 2018, had brought the school to its knees, describing her as arrogant and disrespectful.

A parent claimed that mismanagement of funds had seen the principal fail to pay suppliers and workers since May last year.

They claimed that the principal’s poor management skills had led to increase in indiscipline cases.

The chairman of the board of management, Ambrose Weda, disputed the parents’ claims, saying the principal had improved the school’s performance.

He said that the principal, who was transferred from Kaimosi Girls’ High School, found a debt of more than Sh10 million.

Mr Weda explained that there had been a meeting with suppliers and they were asked to provide proof of their claims.

He said only genuine suppliers would be paid.
