The four who survived are undergoing treatment at the Elburgon Sub-county hospital.

Molo Police boss Bernard Kioko said the victims had been invited to the end-of-year party by their employer on Sunday in a local pub.

“The five victims of excessive alcohol consumption were invited to a party by their employer. One person died while four others are undergoing treatment,” said Kioko.

The victims who are used to local brews are said to have celebrated in excess. “They consumed excess alcohol that left them in an unconscious state,” said the police boss.

They then went home after partying before being rushed to hospital after their condition worsened.

According to Kioko, they were rushed to the hospital where they were treated but unfortunately one succumbed to intoxication while the other four are in stable condition.

At the party, the locals are said to have consumed different brands of alcohol.

The items were taken to Molo Police Station for investigation while the body of the deceased was moved to the Elburgon morgue awaiting an autopsy.

The police boss said samples of the alcohol has been taken to government chemist to Kisumu for analysis on whether it was fit for human consumption.
