We were not smoked out of Uhuru-Raila meeting, says Nyamira governor

Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has refuted claims that four Gusii politicians were thrown out of President Uhuru Kenyatta's meeting with Luo leaders during his recent Nyanza tour.

Mr Nyagarama spoke publicly on the matter for the first time since Thursday, when a section of the Press reported that the governor, his Kisii counterpart James Ongwae, Senator Sam Ongeri and National Assembly Deputy Majority Leader Jimmy Angwenyi were kicked out of the meeting.

The governor spoke at Riatuya SDA Church on Saturday where he joined area MPs for a funds drive to aid the church build the pastor a house. "I'm an elder and I never tell lies. We left the Kisumu meeting after President Kenyatta gave us Sh500,000. Raila also gave us Sh200,000 and Dr Fred Matiang'i Sh200,000 to take to a funeral we  were attending," said Nyagarama.
