Detectives arrest two people repackaging expired wheat flour

The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) on Thursday morning revealed that bales of expired wheat flour being repackaged had been recovered in Dandora area.

Reports indicate that the flour had expired in July but was repackaged for sale to several outlets.

“Detectives yesterday raided a house within Siranga area in Dandora & recovered several Bales of expired Exe Wheat, Dola Wheat and Golden Wheat Flours that were being repackaged after expiring in July 2018.

“Two people arrested; Joyce Nyambura & Samuel Kamau,” read a post on the DCI official Twitter page.

A recent report by the DCI revealed that a wide array of consumer goods and home appliances in retail shops could be fake.

The probe revealed that virtually all the products you use daily fall short of the stipulated quality standards, hence endangering your life and exposing you to losses through purchasing fake goods packaged as genuine.

The goods include thousands of tonnes of rice, fertiliser, shoes, tyres, hardware goods, stationery, vacuum flasks, textile products, electronics, mobiles phones and phone spares, diapers, headphones, cooking oil, sanitary towels, chocolate, garments and alcoholic beverages.

Others include pet foods, food supplements, school bags, auto spares, roses, disposable medical gloves, toothpaste, milk powder, juice drinks, wheat flour, cereals, protective paints, detergents, cotton swabs, noodles, spaghetti, peanut butter and pasta.
