Kenya 3-0 Ethiopia: Pictures of DP Ruto celebrating wildly go viral

With Harambee Stars on brink of AFCON return after 14 years, photos of the Deputy President William Ruto celebrating wildly from the stands went viral as he cheered for Kenya - clapped and screamed every time Kenya approached the goal line.

The team did the country proud by beating Ethiopia 3-0 as Michael Olunga, Sweden-based Eric Johanna and Captain Victor Wanyama were on target.

Seated beside Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa and Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa in the VIP section, Ruto was seen raising his hands and doing a little victory dance to celebrated Kenya’s goal.

Clad in a red Kenyan football Jersey, Ruto also shared some light moments with few leaders doing a brief warm-up on running track ahead of match kick-off.

Videos of him celebrating in the locker room with players too are doing rounds on the Internet.

In the videos, Ruto can be seen celebrating with Stars’ players standing in the center as he delivered his congratulatory messages to Harambee Stars team.

Ruto had also promised Harambee Stars players that the Government will award them Sh50 million if they qualify for the  2019 AFCON in Cameroon.

Later after the match, Ruto took to social media to congratulate the Stars for beating Ethiopia.

“The boys have done it! A momentous occasion as Harambee Stars thump Ethiopia 3-0 to all but guarantee a place at 2019 Africa Cup of Nations showpiece. Tactical discipline, sterling team effort, fantastic home support and belief carry the day. Let's savour a great win.#AFCON2019Q, ”he wrote.
