Micheal Kiboi told Nyeri Resident Magistrate Ruth Kefa that Patrick Mundia Mwangi, one of the key suspects, had sent gunmen to eliminate him several times.

He said since he became a prosecution witness, he had been shuttling between Nairobi and his rural home in Nyahururu to elude the alleged killers. “For a period of three years, I have been living in fear. I was forced to run away for my safety. I went to hide in Nairobi and later in Nyahururu. Mr Mwangi sent the gunmen to intimidate me,” Kiboi said.

He was testifying in a case where Mwangi is charged alongside Nancy Wanjiku Wairimu and Jackson Kinuthia Chege with fraud, forgery of land title deeds and national identity cards, impersonation, uttering a false document and obtaining more than Sh4 million by false pretence.

The offences were committed between 2003 and 2015 in Nyeri.
