County to sack 960 workers to lower wage bill

A separate staff audit conducted earlier by the county government in collaboration with the Ministry of Devolution and National Planning made several recommendations, including sacking workers. According to the report, the county government currently has 2,880 workers. “We are going to implement the recommendations captured in the report to the letter, which has directed that we do away with some staff to control the wage bill,” said Mr Ojaamong, adding that absenteeism was to blame for poor service delivery.
