Bidco Africa has been unveiled as the new co-sponsors of Kenya Sevens and Kenya Lionesses for the next three years.

Under the sponsorship deal, Shujaa will play all their ten competitions of the 2017-2018 season including the HSBC Sevens World Series, the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens and the 2018 Commonwealth Games, wearing jerseys branded with Bidco Africa logo on the back.

As part of the deal, Bidco will also support Kenya Rugby Union’s schools and club rugby development programmes.

“We wish to support sports in Kenya and our men and women rugby sports teams are doing kenya proud and we will continue to support the team for the next three years to develop rugby kenya wide and encourage youngsters in schools and universities to bring out their talent in sports and position kenya as a great sporting nation,” said Bidco Africa Group Director Chris Diaz during yesterday’s unveiling ceremony at RFUEA Grounds.

In addition, Bidco will help the Union in its goal of using diet and proper nutrition to optimise their players.

“If players want to be in the best possible shape to do well in rugby, then they need to get their diets right. Effective training and recovery, coupled with healthy eating, are the key ingredients to performing to your best.”

KRU Chairman Richard Omwela said the partnership will go a long way in promoting the growth of the game in the country.

“Shujaa has grown from strength to strength and is now considered the team to beat in the annual World Rugby Sevens circuit. We also appreciate the support going out to the Lionesses a part of this deal,” said Omwela.

Meanwhile Kenya Sevens head coach Innocent Namcos Simiyu has described their today’s Group A matches of the opening leg of the 2017-2018 HSBC Sevens World Series at The Sevens Stadium in Dubai as an ‘African’ battle.

Shujaa have been drawn in Group A alongside the African duo of reigning series and tournament champions South Africa and Uganda.
