The County government has suspended the identification of plots in a disputed land due to security concerns.

Taveta Deputy Town Administrator Noel Juma said the exercise was suspended indefinitely.

He said the plots were bought from the National Bank of Kenya in 2008 after former Taveta MP Basil Criticos failed to service a loan.

“The defunct Taveta Town Council bought the 2,000 acre-plot at Sh7 million and subdivided it into commercial plots for the expansion of the town.

The plots are yet to be occupied by the beneficiaries due to hostile squatters,” he said.
