A Four storey building under construction has collapsed in Nakuru town on Sunday evening.

Five people were rescued from the structure and taken to hospital with minor injuries.

According to the Kenya Red Cross, unknown number of people are still trapped inside an underground store belonging to Kanini Haraka Wholesalers.

Rift Valley Regional Coordinator Wanyama Musiambo said it had yet to be confirmed if more people were trapped under the rubble.

Kenya Defence Forces officers were at the scene to help in the rescue efforts.

The attendants are said to have been removing goods after a notice was given by officials from National Construction Authority.

The notice was given on Sunday morning after cracks developed in the building.
