Supreme Court Judge Isaac Lenaola has written to mobile network provider Safaricom asking for details of call logs cited in a petition filed against him.

The letter drafted by lawyer Donald Kiprorir and addressed to Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore seeks information about the logs referred to by Angaza Network Director Derrick Malika in the petition.

At the same time, the Judge has written to State House Director of Digital Communication Dennis Itumbi demanding an apology over claims he says are defamatory in nature.

In the letter, the Judge says that he is of impeccable character and a man who has achieved accolades both locally and internationally and thus Mr Itumbi’s social media posts on the petition were meant to soil his good reputation.

Justice Lenaola has threatened to sue Mr Itumbi.

“By the reason of the said words, our client’s hitherto solid professional and legal profession has been injured and has been brought to public scandal, odium and contempt,” the letter reads in part.

“Our instructions are to demand which we hereby do, your immediate scrubbing of your tweets and postings, and thereafter unqualified apology to our client, whereupon we can discuss the quantum payable.”

Mr Malika petitioned the Judicial Service Commission to investigate and remove from office Justice Lenaola and Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu over their conduct during the presidential petition filed by NASA candidate Raila Odinga.

Justice Lenaola also sent a demand letter to The Standard, which published the story on Tuesday, seeking an apology.
