Mother of golfing boys triumphs in August Medal tournament.

It was yet another busy weekend on the golf calendar as players struggled to put their best swing and putts on display at various courses around the country.

Among the winners was Coast golfer Alice Wahome, who returned an excellent score of 72 nett to claim the August Medal.

Wahome emerged victorious in the Johnnie Walker tournament at the par-71 Nyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa over the weekend.

The handicap 19 golfer, who is also the mother of national golfer Mathew Wahome, his brother Jeremy Wahome and upcoming junior golfer Andrew Wahome, and who is often referred to as the “mother of golf champions”, won the Division One category.

“My game seems to be improving and ladies should be very careful from now on,” said Wahome.

Club mate Pervis Barnsley (handicap 30) was the Division Two winner on a score of 73 nett.

Former club captain Dominic Makau, playing off handicap 12, was the Division One Mug winner on 72 nett, while handicap 18 Clemence Agina, on 69 nett, and handicap 23 Taariq Jamal on 70 nett were the Division Two and Three winners.
