Gideon Moi votes and later visits MCA candidate hospitalised for food poisoning

Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and his wife Zahra Chebet queue to cast their vote at Tandui primary school polling station. 

Baringo Senator and KANU national Chairman Gideon Moi cast his vote at Tandui primary school polling station in Baringo County. The senator arrived in the company of his wife Zahra Chebet and daughter Lulu Moi who also cast their votes.

Moi expressed his happiness over the smooth running and conduct of the polls by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officers saying the process was a successful one.

He said it was time voters exercise their constitutional rights and decide the kind of leaders they want. He urged the leaders and the aspirants at all levels to accept the outcome of the polls.

“I am happy I have voted, the process is efficient and is it time we wait to see what the people of Kenya and Baringo will decide,” said Moi.

After voting, Moi transversed visited various parts of Baringo County. According to Standard reporter Kipkorir Chepkwony, Moi has visited Visa Oshwal primary school. He has also visited Kabarnet County hospital where he paid a courtesy call to Gilbert Kiptala, the KANU Barwesa ward Member of County Assembly aspirant. 

On Monday, Kiptala suffered a severe bout of food poisoning after drinking tea in a hotel at Keturwo centre.  

Three Senator candidates in Baringo 

There are three candidates eyeing the Baringo County Senator seat. They include Kennedy Kipchumba Ayabei running on an Orange Democratic Party ticket, Simon Kiprono Cheligui of Jubilee Party and Gideon Moi on a KANU ticket. 

Asked whether he will concede defeat after the polls, Moi said defeat was nowhere in his vocabulary. He, however, said that he believes in the will of God. "Defeat does not exist in my vocabulary. And I believe in the will of God," he said.

Moi asked the Police and IEBC officials to ensure the people in areas hit by insecurity are able to vote. He said the issue of floods in Tiaty should be addressed.
