A message to all comrade berore and after elections

Memories of the 2007 post-election violence are still fresh and trouble many of the victims who went through the bitterness and suffering.

Many lost lives and property were destroyed. Majority became homeless and up to date have no place to call their home.

Just in the past party primaries, there were chaos and protests from those who lost both from NASA and Jubilee party strongholds even after the party heads promised peaceful and fair nominations.

This is why Maseno University Christian Union decided to take peace campaigns in the Institution and the neighboring community.

Politicians will always try to use young and energetic youths for their own interests pretending to be having the community at heart but only to dump them after using them as a bridge to reach their goal.

Election will come and go but we shall leave beyond the elections. It is time to make friendship with your neighbor; Akinyi, Kamau or Musau. Let’s not hurt one another because of our leaders who divide us into tribal cocoons.

It surprising that many people leave where they have been staying before the elections fearing the polls outcome.

Majority of the people don’t feel secure where they feel the coalition alignment to their tribe is of a minority electorate hence fear political clashes after the elections as seen in the last general election.

Some are taking their property back home in Lorries hopping to be back after elections. Why must we live with fear amongst us and we are one people in one nation?

Before we go to this year elections, let’s think about the Tutsi and Hutu and how small the war started. Forget about the hatemongers who may just be happy if we fight yet will fly away from us after inciting us.

They bring the mess and leave the vulnerable youths to fight and keep their children away. Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved through mutual agreement.

Let all the youth shun any political incitement because self-interests that will cost us enormously and this must start with my learned friends in universities and colleges.

Let’s be united before and after elections and know peace start with you.
