Kenya Sevens garnered five points as the national rugby team ended their 2016/2017 World Sevens Series season on a low note after a 45-5 thrashing at the hands of Fiji in yesterday’s London 7s Challenge Trophy semifinal in England.
Just like their humiliating 47-0 group defeat against Mike Friday’s USA, Shujaa soaked in four tries before the break against Fiji.
Kenya booked the date with Fiji after thumping Spain 33-7 in the quarter-finals. Eden Agero scored and converted his own try before captain Andrew Amonde grounded a converted try for a 14-0 lead.
However, H. Alonso pulled one back for the Spanish side at the stroke of half-time.
A wounded Kenya continued from where they left off in the first half with Bush Mwale, Billy Odhiambo and Derrick Mayar touching down once to seal Innocent Simiyu boys’ victory.
Kenya, who went to London ranked 12th finished the season with 63 points, 35 points behind last year’s haul. [Rodgers Eshitemi ]
