Butere MP Andrew Toboso has announced his resignation from ODM to seek re-election as an independent candidate.

The legislator lost the party's primaries to Marama West MCA Habil Nanjendo, who garnered 10,378 against his 8,448 votes.

Mr Toboso also announced his resignation from the Kakamega ODM secretary's seat. He announced that he would submit his symbols to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) today.

"We will have more independent candidates in Parliament. I am almost completing the process to be cleared by IEBC," he said.
