Governor Joho: Do not push too much. Know when to stop.

I have keenly been following news about the besieged Mombasa Governor, Ali Hassan Joho.

For extended periods, he has been on a ferocious attack tirade against the President, Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta.

It has been Governor Joho's main agenda to discredit everything that the president launches in Mombasa, either claiming that it is funded by external agencies, or the project is a county development.

So it was a bit of a surprise for me to see the beloved governor uncharacteristically ignore the issue of his academic credentials when the issue came up.

He even backtracked on an earlier statement that he made earlier in January concerning him not being a D- KCSE holder.

On Tuesday, he came out, trying to put out a boldface but you could tell it from his emotional tone. The truth had come out.

The governor has claimed that this is a witch hunt by the president. I would advise the governor to do one thing.

If he stands for the truth, just produce your papers and prove your innocence. Senator Sonko faced the same situation and he did just that. And it was solved.

If the certificate that is being used to link the governor to forgery is not his, it is up to the detectives to prove that beyond reasonable doubt in a court of law.

And I am sure with esteemed advocates like Senator James Orengo and Mohammed Balala, Governor Joho should have nothing to fear.

One final piece of advice to the governor. The president is a symbol of national unity and deserves respect just as you would expect respect from your MCAs and Members of parliament. Respect him and know your limits.

Even criticism has limits.
