IEBC: 1,521 Kenyans living in East and South Africa registered as voters

IEBC has registered 1,521 Kenyans living in East and South Africa as voters in the 20th February to 6th March, 2017 diaspora voter registration drive in preparation for August general election.

361 new voters were registered in Arusha and Dar Es Salaam (Tanzania), 247 in Uganda, 201 in Rwanda, 47 in Burundi and 665 in South Africa.

Kenyans in Diaspora who applied for transfer of their IEBC details were 798 in total; Tanzania (298), Uganda (147), Rwanda (169), Burundi (42) and South Africa (142).

The electoral commission has also enrolled 4,094 inmates as voters in the 7-day registration exercise conducted from 20th to 27th February 2017 in 109 prisons across the country.
