Homeboyz RFC and Impala RFC will be hoping to dislodge Kenya Cup champions Kabras Sugar from the third position when the two sides lock horns with their respective opponents today.

There will be only two matches this weekend as the league takes a break to allow Homeboyz and Impala honour their postponed matches.

Homeboyz, who are fourth on the log with 44 points, one point behind Kabras, will be facing tenth placed Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad in the return leg tie at the scholars’ home turf as fifth placed Impala (41) crosses over to RFUEA Grounds to battle with hosts Nondescripts.

The matches had earlier been postponed due to the untimely deaths of Homeboyz’s Andrew Wekesa and Ogeto Gecheo

Both the Deejays and the Gazelles will be seeking a double against their respective opponents today after emerging victorious in the first leg encounters. Homeboyz thrashed Blak Blad 43-11 at the same venue as Impala beat visiting Nondies 37-22 at Impala Sports Club.

Despite going into the match as favourites following their historic 33-24 win over leaders Kenya Commercial Bank (51 points) last weekend, the Deejays coach Paul Murunga has warned his charges against complacency.

“We are of course going at Kenyatta as favourites, but in the game of rugby anything is possible. Unlike us, Blak Blad lost their last game against Mean Machine so it will not be a walk in the park. But we are determined to get positive results and narrow the gap at the top,” Murunga told Feverpitch.

Meanwhile, the Kenya Rugby Union and key stakeholders will today hold a meeting to discuss the organisation’s draft strategic plan for the 2016-2021 cycle.

KRU Chief Executive Officer Ronald Bukusi said the plan sets out targets to be attained by 2021 and follows extensive consultation with the local rugby community.

“We firmly believe that we must plan for success but we cannot do this alone. Success is not only about performance but about partnerships. We value the partnerships and contributions of our stakeholders. Remember, any strategic plan for the Kenya Rugby Union must bring together everyone involved in Kenyan rugby, to work towards a shared vision that is relevant to all levels of the sport and Saturday’s meeting is intended to steer us towards that direction,” said Bukusi.
